Unique New England Village Atmosphere

Welcome to the Town of Thompson’s website. We have a strong commitment to providing information and are looking forward to your inquiries and visits. Thompson is a unique town located in the northeast corner of Connecticut bordering Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In Thompson you will find many different villages with a variety of housing. Also, you will find a unique rural character with a beautiful country setting. The town also has the Historic Thompson Common, where militias trained from the time of the French and Indian War until disbanded by the State Legislature in the mid 1800’s. Thompson is also located in the nationally recognized Quinebaug Shetucket Heritage Corridor also known as the Last Green Valley.
In Thompson, a visitor can enjoy our municipal and State parks as well as a state of the art Library and Community Center. Additionally, there are many businesses that blend into our community including a historic mill that adds to the character of Thompson and a historic and still very active Thompson International Speedway.
Because of Thompson’s location, it’s an easy commute for residents and an advantage for businesses. Thompson is located 60 miles from Boston, Massachusetts, 50 miles from Hartford, Connecticut, 30 miles from Providence, Rhode Island, and 25 miles from Worcester, Massachusetts.
Come and enjoy Thompson’s unique rural character and a blend of a New England town.

Sincerely,

Lawrence K. Groh, Jr.
